When most people think of the Taste of Chicago they think of food, food and more food. While you can’t pass up some corn on the cob on a hot summer day, food isn’t nearly the only reason to go to the Taste of Chicago.
Besides eating you can enjoy some great music at the taste, with free admission concerts from top performers like Kenny Rodgers, Sara Evans, John Mayer, Cheap Trick, Soul Asylum, and more there are concert options for every music taste. These concerts run daily during the taste. Take a look at the current Taste of Chicago free concert schedule. This has to be Chicago’s largest free music event of the year!
Before eating all that food you really should get some exercise and the Race to Taste 2007 is the perfect way to get it. The race is on Sunday, July 1, 2007 and starts at 8:30 am. The start of the race will be at the corner of Balbo & Columbus. This 2 mile walk or 5k run race event will wrap up around 10:30am, just a few minutes before the opening of the Taste.
There are so many more smaller events that take place at the Taste every day that it would take an entire website to cover it all. There are events planned for the kids at Family Village and at some of the smaller stages and rides for kids small and big. Plan on spending a full day at the Taste as they have a full day of activities planned for you.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Growing up in Southern Utah (Zion National Park) we had a lot of little summer events like that, although they were on a much smaller scale. Makes for some great memories growing up.

I could go for Chicago style dog and some good music. Sound like a lot of fun and a great reason to take the day off work.

I remember my very first “Taste”. I was only 8-9 years old and Pat Benatar was to play later in the evening.
We ate, walked, ate and walked… then it was time for Pat to take stage. By the time we arrived, there was no where for me to see the stage. So, a friend of my mom’s put me up on the back wall so I could see. All was good until the Chicago Police came up from behind on horse back and start tapping all of us on our backs and yelling at us to get down. No matter, that didn;t stop me from having the time of my life (at that age anyways)!
I’ll always remember my first “Taste”.
